Minot State Hockey continues to bolster its lineup for the 2013-2014 season with the addition of defenseman Dillon Smith.
MINOT, N.D. — Just when you thought recruiting for the 2013-2014 season was over Head Coach Wade Regier is at it again. This time adding captain defenseman Dillon Smith from the Charleswood Hawks of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League (MMJHL). Dillon, who hails from Winnipeg, MB, Canada had 38 goals, 100 assists for 138 points in 172 games played over 4 seasons for the Hawks. Smith has also received the George Cadzow award as the MMJHL’s most outstanding defenseman two out of the last three years.
“Dillon will immediately add depth to our back end this season” said Head Coach Wade Regier. “He is a puck moving defenseman who is very versatile he will definitely give us an offensive boost. With forward Brett Nespor having success at the ACHA level it has shown how good the MMJHL really is. We needed to get more offensive on our back end with the departure of our Captain Nigel Dube and I am confident Dillon can do that immediately.”
Dillon Smith becomes 12th recruit of the 2013-2014 class and is the first player this season to commit from the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League.
